At least bring common sense to the table
Black and White Politics

I see today’s politics as pretty much black and white. Please don’t misunderstand me, I most assuredly don’t like this situation, but it isn’t of my making. Personally I think some of the things the liberals promote are good things and some of the things conservatives promote are not so good. But I just don’t know how to pick and choose anymore. Too much rides on a majority. I am more interested in the overall scheme of things, not the petty arguments that both parties use to enrage their bases and mask the real plots and schemes. I think politics boils down to one issue and one issue only. Do you support a socialistic or capitalistic government … PERIOD!

I believe the middle ground lies on one side of the fence or the other and that playing the middle between today’s parties accomplishes nothing (as far as the middle is concerned anyway). Just look at the shift in congressional emphasis due to a minor change in majority. How do you run an effective war with your congress out for your head? Had Kerry won the election, there most likely wouldn’t have been a war and the shoe would have been on the other foot … but there is no way to determine the possible consequences of not engaging the enemy overseas. I think we would have suffered immensely worse than we have.

You can second guess past decisions all you like (that is a liberal mainstay … 20:20 hindsight), but you cannot even begin to guess the results of having done something different (except that this is a liberal mainstay too … 20:20 foresight based on 20:20 hindsight). There will always be checks and balances in a democratic republic where much responsibility rightfully lies in the hands of the people.

Consequently, there are none at all under firmly established socialism in which people are deemed to ignorant to be responsible for anything, and all is left up to the government to decide for you and all the other ‘clones’. Who are you going to appeal to? Just look at where the social societies of the past ended up … what their people were forced to endure. Then look at the depreciating social governments of today and the living conditions there. Is that what you really want us to succumb to here in America? Do you see any depreciating living conditions for the rich elitists in control now or in the past? I think not! There is no middleclass to worry about. If this really appeals to you, I for one would be willing to help you pack and offer a fond ado as you venture to your new trap elsewhere in the world … called socialism.

Honestly I find that in many situations the best path is right down the middle. Not always, but often. On most topics I am right of center, a little, but not all. I am actually a little bit left of center on some ideas. Not a lot, just a little.

I tend to wobble on both sides of that center line and I think most people do as well.

I also despise politics with a passion.

There is a huge middle ground, and it rules politics. Neither the left nor the right have a majority, and it is how they convince the middle to vote that determines who wins.

And it would seem hyperbole is the prod that pushes people to the center. Ha! A good reason for the sort of Fox and CNN great divide. Now, if only the middle could find a carrot in the person of someone...
