At least bring common sense to the table
$74 billion =~$33 billion
Published on February 7, 2011 By BoobzTwo In Politics

One of many ‘I told you so’ moments from John Boehner Speaker of the House; start a list now. Seems they are having difficulty trying to cut something substantial from the budget as all they could come up with was $74 billion (< 5.3% of the budget) hardly a start. Oh that’s right, we are talking Obama dollars here considering that the actual dollars CUT would be ~33 billion (< 2.4% of the budget) so … not as auspicious as advertised. I am afraid that Boehner is just coming out of the RINO closet again and although there will be much brouhaha from his Office, little if anything of NECESSITY will get done or prevented from expanding.

Sadly, I agree.  Better than a stick in the eye, but no 'victory' to brag about.  That's pretty much what the Republican leadership has been since Reagan - better than a stick in the eye, but not by much.  The only thing that partially redeems them is that the Democrats are a stick in the eye.

For once, I can honestly say that I did not vote for any of the clowns in office.  ANY.

The Tea Party has it right.  Start at  the 2008 budget and then CUT.  To do anything else is just pissing in the wind.

Well said Daiwa. I might have to borrow your analogy?

Agreed Dr. Guy. That is why I think a mandatory start would be to block any attempt to raise the debt ceiling. What sense does it make to bluster about cuts ... force it ... isn't that what Boehner has said from the beginning? If they even get wind of more money, it will be spent ...

Most in the media see nothing wrong with just bumping the ceiling to the moon, and will demagogue the Republicans as the bad guys should the Democrats refuse to accept meaningful cuts.  Guaranteed.

Typical politics, I may lean Republican but honestly I don't expect politicians today to be what I wish they would be. I can only hope people continue to wake up and continue to push at those up there to eventually do what we think is best or we push them out and put someone we believe will. What we need to do is remember the stupidity they do now and hammer them when election time comes and teach them a lesson so those who replace them know what will happen to them too.

And agreed.
