At least bring common sense to the table
Part 1
Published on November 1, 2011 By BoobzTwo In Ethics

Personally I like the Book of Genesis as it makes an interesting read if one is into strange fantasy.  In The beginning there was either nothing or something depending on your point of view. It is strange but let’s take a look at the nothing concept first:

DAY 1: In The beginning there was nothing but darkness and out of the darkness came the One God who always was … in the darkness? Well eventually God became tired (?) of the darkness after however long and decided to have a go at empire building. God created the heavens and the earth from the dark nothingness. But the earth was without form however spiritually He was still able to ‘hover’ above the surface of the waters of the formless earth, some trick there. So God brought light into existence and managed to separate it from the dark somehow all the while wondering what the “????” had made Him live in the dark sooo long (at least the first half of infinity anyway).

DAY 2: This whole day was spent making Heaven to separate the waters above from the waters below. I would think that omnipotent and all-knowing could have made this whole six day process happen pronto like. As concerns the all-knowing part … why bother when you already know you will be destroying your creations anyway??? As a curiosity, I wonder where Heaven is supposed to be besides in the minds of the blind.

DAY 3: God then proceeded to gather all the water below heaven into one place so there could be land but is vague on why this displaced water didn’t flow back where it was happy. This must have been relatively easy though because there was still time on the third day to seed the entire flat earth with fruit bearing trees and grains.

DAY 4: God forgot he had already created light on DAY 1 but He created the stars anyway and placed them in Heaven so the sheeple to come could discern day from night and tell time.  Then He put the Sun and moon in the sky at the exact right distance for human life (so far unknown) to flourish.

DAY 5: God populated the earth with every living flying and swimming organism able to claim the breath of life. Now it might be pointed out here that countless animals have come and gone as well as whole species so this day I think was completely wasted or at best quite unsuccessful.

DAY 6: Here God populated the earth with all the animals and crawly things that were to exist??? This is where we come in, the sheeple. Lastly and I suppose this is where the problems creep in because he was so tired by now … He created man from the dirt and woman from man and gave them dominion over all other life on earth. How could they be given dominion over other people as there were no others?

DAY 7: God the all-powerful and all-knowing had to rest on the Sabbath to recover His weariness from creating everything from nothing out of the darkness of nothingness. Oh did I mention that in time because God was so exhausted from what should have been a finger snap, that he would have put to death anyone who is bold enough to work on Sunday, go figure. As we are just into Genesis part 2 of 50 … there is quite a bit to cover still, but I thought people would like to know how they and the entire Universe came into being is all. These are the only facts and only the facts, so help me God.

How did life begin?
I don't know (yet) but I have some thoughts on it. But since you will not even accept the testimony of the best minds on earth, I don't think my thoughts would even register on your scale of expertiese. But one thing I do know, it didn't happen like this five thousand years ago:

The Bible: Genesis 1-3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SIYoD9PHVY

Secular children learn basic math skills in grade school because that is all they are capable of comprehending. Christian children are taught that everything they need for modern life is a good understanding of scripture. Secular high school children build upon their basic skills with more difficult concepts and are introduced to basic algebra, geometry, trig and some advanced math because they are able to comprehend more now. Christian high school students are still memorizing the bible because they already know everything. In college, secular students are primed with the basics so they can move to calculus and way beyond. Christian students go to the Elite Liberty University Christian College to learn how to brainwash humanity … and still you guys have nothing besides a book with a first century world view. This doesn’t make sense to me so it must be magic. I know they study other things, but the emphasis is always on the only book with christian knowledge in it.

This is a very good clip, unless you are a creationist.

Yes, indeed, both questions and answers are important and necessary to understand Evolution as we know it today.
Not true so there. I have never ever woke up in the morning and asked myself, "self, from whence came I", ever (be 60 next month) ... not one time ... ever. By the age of ten or so I had this beguiling of mystery all figured out. They don't teach that stuff in your community too? Lula, I don't teach anything to anyone, I just read the available literature and decide for myself what to believe based on the fact that I actually paid attention in school because I just wasn't awash with jubilation at all the 'god did it' answers ... they seemed to be lacking of something ... like the ring of truth. Space in the first century was everything higher than a bird could fly. We are still looking for the ring of water in the sky dome

Re: the highlighted....Sorry dear, but this is laughable.
Lula, you are just a work of art and I am so happy that I am ignorant and not as bright as you are. I will just have to trudge around in ignorant bliss ... I actually like bliss ... you can't get this kind of nonsense free anymore unless there is a creationist around. I don't know what motivates fictional characters to do what they do, but I suspect the editor did. The bible describes a flat earth at every opportunity so just twist away and let your knowledge shine. Creation didn’t happen this way either:

I like that.  You can't come up with any reasonable explanation for how life began, and neither can anyone else, without an outside force who is capable of creating it.  Great.  So post your videos, because your entire theory of no creator is summed up in those 3 words.  'I don't know'.

on Jun 12, 2012

I would probably have your attitude too if I was standing on ground as flimsy as 'I don't know.'  Luckily, my faith is based upon the fact that "We've met.  God has made an impact on me that is real, and I know it."

For a long time the atheist and secular humanists have been controlling the textbooks and  Education. The results of installing atheistic and secular humanism are devastating not only morally but academically.

As far as the differences between government and Christian education, the facts concerning the PSAT results in Math, Sciences, Reading, Writing (and just about everything else) speak for themselves. In short, government school results demonstrate a virually unbroken decline.

Government schools test results are down, down, down in these areas while Catholic and Christian schools are up, up, up. A student who graduates from a Christian or Catholic High School has a much better chance of getting into any college or university than those who are educated in government high schools.

The government school system has gotten so bad that the number of those graduating functionally illiterate is staggering as compared to before 1962 when God and prayer was taken out of schools. I think the entire public education system is in collapse and that's why I urge every parent to get their kids out and into Christian schools or home school.

You forgot that I don't care ... and you said it quite correctly ... nobody can conclusively yet even you ... so if there was a point to this nonsense??? I know why you don't watch the clips, same reason Lula doesn't, but at least you are honest about not watching them, she just lies about it. You guys are incapable of expressing your hate for science by actually watching clips because you need pick out all the apologists buzz words so you can ignore what is being shown or written and concentrate of a few words you think are meaningful but aren't. I have so much evidence available to me that you don't seem to be able to find, that I am way past reasonable and embarrassed by adults that respect mankind so little. Just read up on evolution a little so we can reasonably communicate, or keep spouting nonsense and getting laughed at.

Yea, you are so smart ... but even the subservient Eve was fooled by your devil talking snake and she lived in perfection but you got your shit together for sure, something like that. Too bad you cannot spare some admiration for the potential of humanity and still have plenty for yourself. Are you ready to actually discuss evolution ... or do I proceed to Genesis 3, 4 etc. and the lack of intelligence therein?  Why can’t we just agree to disagree and move on to something interesting for a change? The next time you pal around with Jesus; tell him to drop on by and straighten my wicked ass out ... or just to say hi.

on Jun 12, 2012

He did, you ignored Him.

So why would I discuss evolution when you can't even get to it from the beginning?  Over billions of years, as you state, life did not develop and we are not here.  Wait, we are here.  Therefore, God exists.  You don't care though, so we should discuss your theories of how life went from a microbe to a human, because now the 100's of billions of years mean something... oh wait, that still is impossible, order does not come out of disorder without an orderly person of some sort to lead it there.  So your theory of creation is non-existant, and your evolutionary steps from bacteria to people, or even monkeys to people, can't be found.  They can't be reproduced by people trying extremely hard to do so.  Again, probability of 0% means the amount of time doesn't matter - chance is still 0 that it happened the way you said it did.

So why would I look in these textbooks that tell me it 'must have' happened some way simply because we're here, when there is a viable alternate explanation?  If I was you, and I was you once, I would be looking a lot harder at what you believe and when it falls apart, you might want to look at the alternative.

lulapilgrim; No so; for the longest time religion was the controlling factor in primary education. At some point some humans decided to mature a little and actually try to encourage scientific and intellectual honesty … and we have been removing the magical nonsense ever since. We feel it is more important to teach children how the world around them works instead of telling them god did it, no need to worry how it works, now go read your bible. The biblical authors had no more use for the truth than they had for facts, or they would have included a few just to screw with sane people later on. The only thing necessary to believing the bible or in any god or in anything you want at all is an absolute faith in whatever. The how, what for and why of it don’t matter, nor does any evidence or proof to the contrary have any meaning … you gave that option away when you placed your absolute faith in whatever.

Since God is real, the Bible actually encourages us to study our environment and find out how it works, to ask questions, especially of teachers, to dig deep into what the Bible says, to dig deep into the environment... because everything we dig into only shows how right the Bible is, but how wrong the teachers were about it.  People looked at it and interpretted it based on what they knew at the time.  But there were many things they couldn't explain because they believed the world to be flat, for instance... which then made sense when we discovered a round world.  There is no reason for the true church to discourage science - but we do discourage liars whose work is filled with false information, and teaching the theories of how life began and evolution and such as the only option without having any of the inter-species steps to point at!

Since I have this questioning mind I questioned evolution and found it wanting.  Every question about the Bible is answered.

on Jun 12, 2012

Jythier; I have no clue as to why you want to play with things you don't believe in or 'understand', makes no sense to me??? So the beginning of life on planet earth that formed ~3.7 billion years ago (keeping in mind that you cannot go back a whopping 2 thousand years and produce a single proof yourself for anything at all that you consider absolutely godly) is the only thing necessary to prove to you ... what EXACTLY … that evolution rocks??? For some unearthly reason you folks seem to think that your belief in and approval of evolutionary theory is necessary for the world to continue evolving. Don’t take this too hard but it doesn’t. I could lie like the biblical authors did, but then the lies would come back and bite me on the arse, just as you folk are experiencing and it isn't going to go away, it is only going to get worse. Christianity exists as it did a couple thousand years ago and with their world view. We just happen to know a thing or two more today that they did and that you seemingly still don’t.  We grew up and educated ourselves and you are still trying to live out a childish fantasy clinging narcissistically to the beliefs of Bronze Age ‘flat earthers’, doesn’t make sense to me???

PS – they aren’t my theories as I had nothing to do with their formulation … but I can read for content, try it some time.

If you go out of your way to misinterpret and try to make any story told to you look silly, you can.  The Bible isn't an exception - it's not written to avoid ridicule, it's written to tell a story.  So basically, you make assumptions.  God got tired so he had to rest.  That doesn't make sense, so why did he rest?  Maybe because he was done?  Would that make more sense?

GirlFriendTess
Even when I was serious about religion, the bible never made much sense to me because it is such an irrational document. A

[quote who="GirlFriendTess" reply="9" id="3169167"]I know why religions despise knowledge, it is so simple.

GFTess,

The Bible tells us that "all Scripture inspired of God is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice, that man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work."

If one is open, there is much wider knowledge to be gained by reading and correctly understanding it.

The Bible teaches Biblical (religious) history which coincides with real history. It's a fascinating read to me. Everything has a meaning.  The Bible is meant for every age until the end of the world. The events recorded have an interest and concern and are part and parcel of our own lives. The temptations, the struggles, the falls and conversions are a reflection of our own conduct and are written for our warning, and encouragement and self-knowledge. In the application the truths elicited are brought home to us, the reader, and are held up to us as a rule of life and conduct.

From the Douay Rheims version, Genesis 2:1--3 , "So the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the furniture of them. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. And He blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; becasue in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made."

So what' the application to our life that we should take from God's work and resting on Day 7?

It's clear to see the writer divides the whole work of Creation as we now see it into 6 days followed by the day of rest in order to impress upon us that man should follow the example of God and work 6 days and rest on the 7th. Although God Himself didn't work in time, He can be likened to a man who works 6 days and finishes his work in one week.

Can God be tired? No.

So what then do the words, "God rested on the seventh day", mean?  They mean that God rested (finished) from this particular work, i.e. creating, becasue the universe was finished and complete.

The Sabbath. With the creation of man, God's plan of Creation was completed, and the great work of His creative love was crowned for man is the most perfect of all visible creatures. Then God rested, and appointed the seventh day for man's rest in Him.

On the seventh day, man was to rest and contemplate the wonders of Creation and to praise and thank God. The Commandment to keep holy the Sabbath is the oldest commandment there is. With Christ, the account of the seventh day is also called "The Lord's Day" ie the day set apart for the worship of God.

The very fact that the writer represents God as working a week makes Him our pattern and example, and implies a commandment for all of us to do the same. The law was given by God at the creation of the world and so it is that among all people, we find one day of rest observed in a week.

God, in His supernatural providence,  is continually working for the good of His creatures for only He who called the world into existence can sustain and govern it. If He were to withdraw His hand from the world, at that moment it would collapse and fall into ruin. From this we learn that everyday, every hour of life is a gift of Almighty God.

Exactly my point but you won't get it hahaha. Name ONE ... take the fact book out of the picture and there are no monotheistic gods, whoa ... I guess Allah would still be there so let's just take their comic book away and it is bye-bye for Allah too. This tells me that your real god IS the bible itself because that is all you have. Just think, if they could find the fabled Garden of Eden, we might be able to find god's foot prints ... just think of the monkey wrench that would throw into evolutionary theory. But you cannot prove one thing at all!

Jythier

Started out well enough but ran into the brick wall. God is a built an excuse for you to do and say whatever you want all the while knowing nobody could prove any of it wrong because we haven’t figured out to prove that anything doesn’t exist or is impossible … anything at all mind you … and we never will.

All you are doing is what you always do ... trying to destroy evolution as if that would somehow (magically, what else of course) prove the existence of god. The truth is that evolution doesn’t care the least about yours or mine or even your god’s opinions; at least I have never been asked for input because I am but a messenger of the truth, do with it as you like. At any point in this nonsense, feel free to prove something (anything) and stop telling me why I am supposed to forgo the sciences so I can become conditioned to believe specifically your delusional thoughts. Why is this so difficult for you? I believe in evolution and can prove the biblical account of creation is just plain wrong. You believe in a verbatim biblical creation but you cannot prove one story in your fact book to be true (let alone each and every one) and you cannot even prove the protagonist ever performed as stated therein. I prefer to stay where I am … you do as you please.

Jythier
I am still unable to watch your videos.
I don't care. God hasn’t hexed my computer yet. I put them there to prove you were wrong not to prove it to you. I am not going to bang my head on your brick wall. I know you have no use for proof or facts so it doesn't matter if you view them or not. I also wanted others without a god lock to laugh along with me.

Some help then, google Chromosome 2 and 13 or just go here   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromosome_2_(human), oh you are so not interested
